# Update Process

Thanks for purchasing DailyTimes - News and Magazine Joomla Template. If you are using Joomla 3.9.x version that means your server php version is 7.3 or earlier and the MySql version is 5.7x or earlier.

So first of all you need to update Joomla 3.9.x to 3.10.12 and there is no need to update any extensions right now.

Now your site is compatible with php 7.4 and higher MySql version.

We also used a very popular module named RokSprocket by RocketTheme, but the extension hasn’t gotten any update over the last two years and it used a library called rokCommon which is back-dated and isn’t compatible with Joomla 4. So we have no options to keep it. We dropped that extension.

We have checked the k2 component and we are not fully satisfied with its behavior. That is why we decided to drop the k2 component and its modules.

Then we created the same categories as k2 and copied the k2 items into Joomla articles. Then we assigned the articles in categories. We recommend you do the same thing.

Download the latest bundle and you will see a directory named “required_extensions”. You will get all the extensions of the latest version.

Install every extension one by one. So your extension will get updates.

Install ts_dailytimes_template_only_j5.0.2.zip also so that the template and Helix Framework can get updated files.

Then go to Components > Joomla Update. Click on the Options button upper right corner. Change the Update Channel from “Default” to “Joomla Next”.

Now your site will get a notification to update Joomla 3.10.12 to Joomla 4.4.1

Take a backup of your site and proceed to update to Joomla 4.4.1

After your site updates to Joomla 4.4.1 you may see some errors and your site may not function well because you are using an older version of PHP.

Change the PHP version to 8.1 and check if your site is functioning well again or not.

After that Click on System Menu > Database. Select All from the list and click on “Update Structure”.

If everything works well then Click on System Menu again and clear all the caches and Global Check-in.

If you think your layout does not look as you expect. Then check inside the bundle directory. Inside the directory, you will see template settings. You may need to import it.

Then go to System > Site Modules, find News Show Pro GK5 from the search filter, and change the data source from k2 to Joomla articles or Joomla Category.

If everything works well then you will be ready to update from Joomla 4.4.1 to Joomla 5.0.1

Take a backup of your site again and proceed to update the process again.
