Allah (SWT) revealed the Quran as a book of guidance, mercy and light to release human from rooted ignorance and blind misguidance. Quran is the last scripture revealed by Almighty Allah to be an eternal spring of wisdom; the miracle of the message, and the light and insights to the path of Allah and to survival on the hereafter.

Allah (SWT) Says: “And is it not enough for them that We have sent down to thee the Book which is rehearsed to them? Verily in it is Mercy and Reminder to those who believe”, [Surah Al- Ankaboot, verse No. 51].

The Prophet (PBUH) said, "Every Prophet was given miracles because of which people believed, but what I have been given is Divine Inspiration which Allah has revealed to me, so I hope my followers will outnumber the followers of other Prophets on the Day of Resurrection”.

Narrated Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari: The Prophet said, "The example of him (a believer) who recites the Qur'an is like that of a citron which tastes good and smells good. And he (a believer) who does not recite the Qur'an is like a date which is good in taste but has no smell. And the example of a dissolute wicked person who recites the Qur'an is like the Raihana (sweet basil) which smells good but tastes bitter. And the example of a dissolute wicked person who does not recite the Qur'an is like the colocynth which tastes bitter and has no smell”.

Many Surahs and verses of the Quran, and Hadiths of the prophet (PBUH) described the superiority and merit of the Quran, and it unlikely to list them all in this context.

It is a challenge for anyone to find words to literally list the merit and wisdom of the Quranic verses or describe the blessings of the Quran. One indicator of Quran greatness and superiority is the numerous names given to it, which is a sign of such magnitude. Quran names include:

The Quran: it is the common name, which indicates its greatness and superiority. Allah Says: “A Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds”, [Sura Al- Waqia’, verse 77].

Furqan: It is the name given to one of its Suarhs, Allah (SWT) Says: “Blessed is He Who sent down the Criterion to His servant, that it may be an admonition to all creatures”, [Sura Al- Waqia’, verse 1].

The Book: Allah the Greatest of all Says: “This is the Book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah”, [Sura Al- Baqara, verse 2].

The Message: Allah Says: “We have, without doubt sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it” [Sura Al- Hijr, verse 9].

The Revelation (Tanzeel): Allah (SWT) Says: “Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds”, [Sura Al- Hijr, verse 192].

The word of Allah: The Exalted (SWT) Says: “If one amongst the pagans ask thee for asylum, grant it to him, so that he may hear the word of Allah; and then escort him to where he can be secure” [Sura Al- Tawba, verse 6].
